Gyeonggi Special Judicial Police Crack Down on 4 Illegal Waste Disposal and Recycling Companies
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police Unit announced on the 5th that it has identified and criminally charged four companies for illegally disposing of waste glass or recycling it without permission.
These companies have been operating since 2015 and were found to have conducted illegal transactions by not entering the distribution process of waste glass into the government-operated electronic waste information system.
Among the four companies caught, one is suspected of recycling waste glass bottles without a waste recycling business permit, and three are suspected of selling waste glass bottles to unlicensed recycling companies.
For unlicensed waste recycling businesses, under the Waste Management Act, penalties include imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 50 million won, and improper waste disposal carries penalties of up to three years imprisonment or a fine of up to 30 million won.
