Unveiled Genesis 'New G80'... "Balance of Dynamism and Elegance"
3rd Generation New G80, Exterior and Interior Images Revealed for the First Time
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Genesis unveiled images of the new G80 'The All-new G80' on the 5th. The G80 has been a flagship model since before Genesis became an independent brand in 2015, and this third-generation model is said to perfectly embody Genesis's design identity of 'Athletic Elegance.'
Lee Sang-yup, Executive Vice President and Head of the Genesis Design Center, stated, "The quad lamps are Genesis's most representative design element, clearly expressing the brand identity whether applied to sedans or sport utility vehicles (SUVs). We will create a unique luxury for Genesis based on the brand design identity that balances dynamism and elegance to bring out the vehicle's personality."
The new G80 achieves the most perfect proportions that a rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan can have. In particular, the roofline smoothly slopes like a coupe while still securing ample headroom for the second row.
The front Crest grille and the two-line quad lamps, first applied to the brand's first SUV 'GV80' launched earlier this year, have also been applied to the G80. The side features a 'parabolic line' that starts from the quad lamps on the simple body surface, runs along the upper part of the doors, and gradually lowers toward the rear, evoking the elegance of classic cars. At the bottom, new 20-inch wheels and emphasized fender volume add dynamism. The rear is characterized by quad lamps and a horseshoe-shaped, rounded recessed trunk surface.
Luke Donkerwolke, Vice President in charge of design at Hyundai Motor Group, emphasized, "All design elements of Genesis are reflected in the logo where the brand's first impression begins. The shield emblem (Crest) in the Genesis logo represents the Crest grille, and the wings on both sides symbolize the two-line design of the quad lamps."
The interior pursues a spacious feel centered on the beauty of emptiness, while optimizing the layout of controls to ensure ease of use for various functions. The crash pad, where the instrument cluster and storage compartments are located, features long and sleek air vents and a 14.5-inch infotainment system. It is explained that the button layout is concise, prioritizing functions necessary for the driver.
