[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics will provide 5G communication equipment to Spark, New Zealand's largest mobile carrier.
On the 5th, Samsung Electronics announced that it had signed a contract to supply 5G mobile communication equipment with Spark. This is the first time Samsung Electronics is supplying mobile communication equipment to New Zealand, and it plans to build a 5G commercial network in some areas of New Zealand within the year.
Samsung Electronics will supply communication equipment such as 5G base stations (Massive MIMO) operating in the 3.5GHz frequency band, which has been commercialized domestically. The company plans to actively utilize the technology accumulated through the world's first 5G commercialization, experience in building large-scale commercial networks, and know-how in network optimization.
Since 2019, Spark has conducted performance verification of Samsung Electronics' communication equipment, terminals, and core chips, carrying out demonstration tests on the speed, quality, and ultra-low latency performance of Samsung Electronics' equipment.
Rajesh Singh, Head of Purchasing at Spark, said, "Samsung Electronics has secured technology that can provide immersive services to subscribers based on years of 5G commercialization experience as well as innovative technology," adding, "We will provide stable communication quality and 5G commercial services capable of handling large volumes of data by utilizing Samsung Electronics' communication equipment."
