[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is drawing attention with a so-called "Good Economic Wind," which shares the difficulties of small business owners and self-employed people caused by COVID-19 and works together to overcome the crisis.
The "Good Landlord Movement," where landlords voluntarily reduce rent, is gradually spreading within Gwanak-gu.
Landlords of Gwanak Sinsa Market have promised to reduce rent by up to 1 million KRW per month to support tenants struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
As visitors stopped coming to the market due to the spread of COVID-19, the president of the Sinsa Market Merchants Association (Chairman Lim Young-eop) contacted landlords to explain the situation, and the landlords willingly agreed to participate in the "Good Landlord Movement."
Mr. A, who owns a commercial building in Inheon-dong, also decided to reduce the rent for February by 300,000 KRW for a restaurant in his building, which saw a sharp decline in customers due to COVID-19.
In February, Asia-Pacific Industry, located in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, which disinfected 1,475 stores in 21 traditional markets across Gwanak-gu, promised to provide "Good Disinfection" services at a 50% discounted rate starting in March.
Additionally, various companies and organizations are sending "Good Snacks" to encourage public officials working tirelessly on-site to prevent the spread of COVID-19, adding warmth to Gwanak-gu through diverse good economic initiatives.
