Kang Ha-neul, the Savior of Chungmuro is Coming
[Lee Isul, Entertainment Reporter]
Actor Kang Ha-neul is returning to Chungmuro.
On the 1st, Kang Ha-neul took the final stage of the play 'Hwansangdonghwa' (Fairy Tale). After finishing the performance, his next project is expected to be a film. The Korean film industry’s long-awaited savior is finally making his appearance.
Last year, Kang Ha-neul gained immense popularity by playing the pure-hearted police officer Yong-sik in the KBS2 drama 'When the Camellia Blooms'. Without any break after his military discharge, he immediately focused on preparing for the drama, achieving the highest viewership ratings and meaningful success.
As Yong-sik, Kang Ha-neul fully showcased his charm like a fish in water. His role received high praise as being "very Kang Ha-neul-like," bringing the drama to life. After his discharge, he quietly devoted himself to filming while staying in Pohang that summer. His hard work paid off.
Afterwards, scripts poured in for Kang Ha-neul. Although Chungmuro faces the challenge of generational change, there are often complaints about the lack of suitable candidates. Many directors and producers have pointed to Kang Ha-neul as the answer. It is said that he received quite a few film scripts after his discharge. Kang Ha-neul himself hopes more than anyone to appear in good works with good roles.
For his next project, he chose a play. It is also a work directed by his close friend Kim Dong-yeon, and it is said that Kang Ha-neul, who saw the premiere of 'Hwansangdonghwa' six years ago, had shown affection for the work even before the opening.
Kang Ha-neul sweated it out rolling around with his colleagues in the rehearsal room. To avoid causing any inconvenience to the rehearsal space, he politely declined the numerous interview requests following the drama’s end and focused on the work and his acting.
On stage, Kang Ha-neul successfully completed 80 performances to favorable reviews. Now, he is preparing to move on to another role and project.
After a short break, Kang Ha-neul will begin filming the melodrama 'Rain and Your Story' in the first half of the year. Around summer, he is expected to show a different side in the historical blockbuster 'Pirates 2' (director Kim Jeong-hoon).
