Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin: "Request to Secure 3,000 Hospital Beds through President's Emergency Order Authority"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu, requested the government to secure and support public and large corporate training centers to be used as residential treatment centers, even if it means the president exercising emergency executive powers.
At a regular briefing on the 2nd, Mayor Kwon Young-jin said, "Please support securing more than 3,000 rooms in large corporate training centers and other facilities that can be used as residential treatment centers by exercising the president's emergency executive powers."
He added, "To secure medical personnel to be assigned to these facilities, please mobilize all medical staff if necessary to ensure the required personnel."
Regarding securing beds for treating severe patients, he requested, "Please allow the National Medical Center Disaster Emergency Situation Room to have practical authority to enable the rapid transfer of severe patients."
Mayor Kwon also expressed gratitude to local governments such as Gwangju, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Daejeon, which have already provided beds.
