20s Gangster Arrested for Sexual Assault Following Assault on Girlfriend Who Wanted to Break Up
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] A man in his 20s affiliated with an organized crime group was arrested after assaulting and sexually assaulting his girlfriend because he was angry over her request to break up.
On the 2nd, the Gwangju Western Police Station announced that they had arrested A (24) on charges including violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes and Assault.
A is accused of repeatedly assaulting his girlfriend B (26) at a house in Seo-gu, Gwangju, around 1:40 a.m. on June 14 last year.
When B, whom he had been dating for about two months, said she wanted to break up, A did not stop at assault but used his body weight of over 100 kg to press on B’s body, causing her to have difficulty breathing and suffer minor fractures. It was also revealed that he sexually assaulted B.
A is also accused of forcing B, who was trembling in fear due to the continuous assaults, to kneel and beg for forgiveness, then filming the scene and posting it on social networking services (SNS).
The police began an investigation after receiving a report from the victim and arrested A on the 27th of last month on a street in Seo-gu, Gwangju.
According to a police official, A was reportedly wanted for another assault and sexual assault case following the incident with B.
The police are investigating additional crimes against the detained A.
