China Reports 202 New COVID-19 Cases... Cumulative Total Surpasses 80,000 (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] On the 1st, China reported 42 new deaths and 202 new confirmed cases due to COVID-19. The cumulative number of confirmed cases has surpassed 80,000.
On the 2nd, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, 202 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in China. Among these 202 cases, 196 were from Hubei Province, known as the origin of COVID-19, and among the Hubei cases, 193 were from Wuhan City. The newly added death toll was 42. All 42 deaths occurred in Hubei Province, with 32 of them in Wuhan City.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in China has exceeded 80,000. So far, a total of 80,026 cases have been reported. Among them, more than half, 44,462 patients, have recovered and been discharged, and 2,912 have died. Currently, 32,652 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, of which 7,110 are in severe condition.
The number of suspected cases is 715. The cumulative number of close contacts is 663,240, among whom 46,219 are under medical observation.
