Daejeon City to Construct Yongdu Station as Transfer Hub for Daejeon Urban Railway and Chungcheong Regional Railway
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will construct 'Yongdu Station' underground at the Gyeryong Overpass in Yongdu-dong as a transfer station for the Chungcheong Region Metropolitan Railroad.
The city announced on the 2nd that it will begin the basic and detailed design services for the construction of Yongdu Station (transfer) on Urban Railway Line 1.
Yongdu Station will be built to provide transfer convenience between Phase 1 of the Chungcheong Region Metropolitan Railroad, scheduled to open in 2024, and Urban Railway Line 1.
A total budget of 38.4 billion KRW will be invested in the construction of Yongdu Station. To establish the new station, the city signed a construction project consignment agreement with Daejeon Urban Railway Corporation in April last year. Following the basic and detailed design phase and a 15-month service period, the project will be fully launched.
The contractor is Sunkoo Co., Ltd. and three other companies, who received high scores in the qualification review. This project has a regional participation rate of 55.6%, higher than typical service projects, which is expected to help local service companies secure technical capabilities.
The city plans to carry out designs covering architecture, machinery, electricity, communications, and systems in cooperation with the Urban Railway Corporation, and start construction next year to accelerate the building of Yongdu Station.

Sung Gi-moon, Head of the Tram Metropolitan Headquarters of the city, said, "Once Yongdu Station is completed, it will enhance the convenience and accessibility for passengers transferring between the Chungcheong Region Metropolitan Railroad and Urban Railway Line 1," adding, "The city will build Yongdu Station without delay according to the annual investment plan so that citizens can use it safely and conveniently."
