Gangbuk Residents Deliver Warmth to Neighbors to Overcome COVID-19
Donation of Dust Masks, Portable Disinfectants, and Hand Sanitizers Continues... Gangbuk-gu Beon1-dong, Neighborhood Disinfection Activities Powered by Resident Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Amid the daily increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases, Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is uniting its residents to overcome difficulties.
Beon 1-dong in Gangbuk-gu saw community organizations such as the Saemaul Leaders' Council, the Tongjang Council, and the Residents' Autonomy Committee carry out neighborhood disinfection activities. The Saemaul Leaders' Council disinfected Susong Elementary School on the 20th and visited local bus stops and children's parks on the 24th for disinfection. The Tongjang Council and Residents' Autonomy Committee also visited bus stops and children's parks on the 26th, disinfecting rainwater drains and the subway entrance at Suyu Station within the area.
Donations of supplies continued as well. Daekyung Industry, located on Hancheon-ro in Gangbuk-gu, donated dust masks to the Beon 1-dong Community Service Center on the 10th. The donated dust masks were used during infection prevention campaigns.
Additionally, on the 10th, the social enterprise ‘Donghaeng’ donated 700 portable sterilizers to the district office. These items were distributed to low-income residents in the area in cooperation with the Gangbuk Food Market.
On the same day, ‘7beon Pharmacy’ located on Dobong-ro delivered 340 portable hand sanitizers to the Beon 1-dong Community Service Center. The district supported 68 local self-sufficient workers and senior job participants with hand sanitizers.
Gangbuk District Mayor Park Gyeom-su stated, “I am grateful to the residents for their efforts to help neighbors despite the difficult situation,” and added, “In response to these efforts, Gangbuk-gu will devote all its energy to preventing the spread of COVID-19.”
The district operates a dedicated COVID-19 self-quarantine response team that monitors self-quarantined individuals one-on-one and thoroughly manages disinfection of vulnerable facilities such as welfare facilities, lodging businesses, traditional markets, bus stops, schools, religious facilities, and other multi-use facilities.
