National Medical Center Decides to Transfer Severe COVID-19 Patients Without City and Province Consultation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Health authorities have decided to skip the consultation process with cities and provinces when transferring severe COVID-19 patients to other regions and proceed with the transfer directly. The National Medical Center will act as the control tower to allocate beds for critical patient treatment.
At a COVID-19 briefing held in Daegu on the afternoon of the 1st, Jeong Ki-hyun, director of the National Medical Center, stated, "The National Medical Center's Disaster Emergency Situation Room will be converted into a transfer support situation room," adding, "It will serve as a platform to quickly and appropriately transfer patients to hospitals capable of treating critical patients."
Director Jeong said, "It is important to connect patients to hospitals that can treat critical cases and secure hospital beds," and added, "We will develop and apply a checklist regarding the number of severe patients, bed availability in other regions, and the safety of the transfer itself."
