16- and 14-Year-Old Sisters in Hwaseong Test Positive for COVID-19... Family of 4 Infected 'Mystery' (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] On the 29th, teenage sisters in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, were diagnosed with COVID-19. All four family members, including them, became patients.
According to Hwaseong City Hall, a 14-year-old female living in Jinandong was diagnosed with COVID-19 at 1:23 PM that day and was transferred to Anseong Hospital of Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center. She is the seventh confirmed case in the area. Earlier at 9:40 AM, her 16-year-old older sister and 42-year-old mother were also diagnosed with COVID-19.
Among the family members, the 60-year-old father was the first to be confirmed positive the previous morning. It is known that he has no history of overseas travel nor has he visited Daegu or Cheongdo in Gyeongbuk, where cluster infections occurred. Since he had no contact with confirmed patients, Hwaseong City and quarantine authorities are investigating the infection route.
