71 Countries Restrict Entry of Koreans Due to COVID-19... 6 More Added in One Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] As the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) rapidly increases in South Korea, the number of countries restricting entry of Koreans is also growing.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 29th, as of 6 a.m. that day, there were a total of 71 countries implementing measures upon entry of travelers from South Korea. This is an increase of 6 countries compared to the previous day.
There are 33 countries that have imposed full or partial entry bans on travelers from South Korea.
Kyrgyzstan will ban entry of foreigners coming from or transiting through countries with a recent surge in COVID-19 cases, including China, South Korea, and Japan, starting from the 1st of next month. Lebanon banned entry of travelers who visited COVID-19 outbreak areas such as South Korea the day before.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia banned entry of foreigners who visited South Korea within 14 days prior to arrival. However, entry is allowed for those holding Saudi visas or residence permits. Japan and Singapore ban entry of foreigners who visited Daegu and Cheongdo regions within the last 14 days, while Hong Kong, Mongolia, and others prohibit entry of travelers from South Korea.
There are 38 countries strengthening entry procedures such as quarantine or isolation. European countries including Latvia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Azerbaijan have tightened entry procedures.

China has strengthened entry procedures for Koreans in Shandong Province, Liaoning Province, Jilin Province, Heilongjiang Province, Fujian Province, Guangdong Province, Shanghai City, Shanxi Province, and Sichuan Province.
