[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized former lawmaker Jeong Bong-ju, who was disqualified as a preliminary candidate for the 21st general election by the Democratic Party of Korea on the 28th, for declaring the founding of the proportional representation-only party "Open Democratic Party (tentative name)" by saying, "It seems the Democratic Party has finished negotiations behind the scenes."
On the same day, Jin posted on his Facebook, saying, "They only choose to do damn foolish things." He also shared an article announcing Jeong's founding of the proportional party "Open Democratic Party."
He added, "Do you believe you can deceive the people with such a shallow trick?" and concluded, "Therefore, once again, 'exclude the Democratic Party.'"
Earlier, at a press conference, former lawmaker Jeong said, "I have chosen the path I must take," and "The 'third way' I mentioned regarding my position was ultimately to create a unified proportional party."
He stated, "As a founding preparation committee member of the Open Democratic Party, I will focus on a successful founding and will not be included in the proportional representation list," adding, "I will not enter the National Assembly in this 21st general election."
In particular, when asked whether the Open Democratic Party is a satellite party of the Democratic Party, he responded, "No (it is not a satellite party)."

Lee In-young, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, also met with reporters after the party's election countermeasures committee meeting at the National Assembly that morning and explained, "We cannot control what many people are doing here and there regarding (Jeong's party founding)," and "(Also) it is currently impossible for us to directly establish a party to respond, and we have never discussed such a thing."
