Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital 70s Caregiver Confirmed Positive... Goyang's 4th COVID-19 Case

On the 26th, when the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases exceeded 1,000, access to Catholic University Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, was restricted for visitors. The Seoul Metropolitan Government sent an urgent text message to Seoul citizens, stating that one more confirmed case related to Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital was reported the previous day, and at the hospital's request, visitors since February 1st should contact their nearest public health center for medical guidance. [Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The fourth confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has been reported in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province.

On the 27th, Goyang City announced that A (73, female), residing in Haengsin-dong, Deogyang-gu, tested positive for COVID-19 and is scheduled to be transferred to a hospital.

A is known to have worked as a caregiver at Seoul Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital until the 14th of this month.

From the 15th, A lived at her home in Haengsin-dong, and on the 24th at 5:30 PM, she took the subway to retrieve her belongings at Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, returning home around 9 PM.

On the 25th, after receiving a notification text message regarding confirmed COVID-19 cases at Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, she took the subway at 11 AM to visit the Seoul Eunpyeong-gu Public Health Center, underwent a COVID-19 test, and was confirmed positive that afternoon.

Goyang City explained that she had no notable symptoms such as fever so far, had one confirmed contact, and wore a mask during her movements.

Previously, at Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, three inpatients, two family members of patients, one transfer staff, and one caregiver were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
