On the same day, Commissioner Kim held an "Emergency Local National Tax Service Commissioners Video Conference" at the Government Sejong Second Office and instructed, "Except for unavoidable cases such as the imminent expiration of the statute of limitations for tax imposition, minimize on-site business inspections and requests for attendance as much as possible, conducting tax investigations only to the necessary minimum."
However, he ordered, "In the national crisis situation, thoroughly conduct on-site inspections of distribution order against mask hoarding and profiteering acts, and respond with full force."
Commissioner Kim also emphasized, "To reduce the economic burden on taxpayers affected by COVID-19, actively provide tax support centered on the 'Tax Support Dedicated Response Teams' established at each office."
He continued, "Execute without delay the discretionary extension of the corporate tax filing deadline by one month for companies located in the special infectious disease management areas of Daegu and Cheongdo, and extend the semi-annual application deadline for the Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income households nationwide by 15 days (from March 16 to 31), starting from the 1st of next month."
Additionally, he added, "To ease taxpayers' financial burdens, actively implement payment extensions, collection deferrals, and postponements of delinquency measures, promptly pay value-added tax refunds, and swiftly process correction claims."
