Hyundai Mobis Enters HUD Market... Secures Mass Production Technology for All Four Core Car Infotainment Devices
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hyundai Mobis announced on the 27th that it is newly entering the automotive windshield HUD (Head-Up Display) market.
HUD is a device that displays driving information on the windshield in front of the driver's seat, and it was first applied to the recently released Genesis SUV, the GV80. Hyundai Mobis has also completed the preliminary development of AR (Augmented Reality) HUD technology optimized for the autonomous driving era and is preparing for mass production development.
With this mass production application of HUD, Hyundai Mobis has secured all four core vehicle infotainment technologies: ▲ HUD ▲ Full D-Cluster ▲ SVM (Surround View Monitor) ▲ AVNT (Audio, Video, Navigation, Telematics) mass production technologies.
Until now, the global HUD market has been monopolized by two to three overseas parts suppliers. Hyundai Mobis plans to actively pursue orders from global automakers and develop the HUD product line as a key export item.
In addition, to gain a competitive edge in the vehicle infotainment market, Hyundai Mobis plans to actively utilize the four core technologies secured in this field. A representative example is the full-scale promotion of the development of an integrated infotainment system platform that combines the controllers, which are currently configured individually for each device, into a single controller.
