Yang Hyang-ja Preliminary Candidate "Will Do Our Best to Support the Construction of the Complex Cultural Center"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Yang Hyang-ja, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party for the National Assembly election in Seo-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 26th that she will build a multipurpose facility for culture, education, sports, and welfare for residents of Sangmu 2-dong and Hwajeong 3·4-dong.
The ‘Seo-gu Dudeurim Complex Cultural Center’ is planned to be constructed as a 1 to 4-story building with a total floor area of 12,666㎡, equipped with a public library, multipurpose gymnasium, residential parking lot, and lifelong learning center.
Initially, it was planned to be built on the remaining site following the integration and restructuring of Sangmu Middle School and Chipyeong Middle School, but the integration was canceled, leading to the search for a new site.
The plan was changed to the parking lot site of Gwangju Archdiocese, and with the addition of a multipurpose gymnasium, the convenience for residents will be further enhanced.
However, it is currently facing new challenges such as negotiations with the central government and securing additional budget.
Accordingly, Candidate Yang plans to secure the insufficient funds through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism budget, the Special Account for Balanced National Development (Gyunteuk), or special grants (Teukgyo) to support the construction.
Candidate Yang said, “I will support the prompt construction of the Seo-gu Dudeurim Complex Cultural Center to improve the quality of life for residents by expanding infrastructure necessary for daily life such as culture, education, sports, and welfare.”
She also emphasized, “The construction of the center is necessary to create a lifelong learning foundation through the utilization of various contents and to alleviate parking problems in Sangmu 2-dong and Hwajeong-dong.”
Meanwhile, former Supreme Council member Yang Hyang-ja, born in 1967, is well known as a high school graduate Samsung Electronics executive who joined Samsung Electronics while attending Gwangju Girls' Commercial High School and was promoted to executive.
She was selected as a ‘Moon Jae-in recruit’ and ran for the 20th general election in Seo-gu Eul, Gwangju, and was elected as the Supreme Council member and national women’s committee chairperson of the Democratic Party in 2016.
