On Warm Winter Days... Emart's Golf Equipment Sales Reach Highest in 5 Years
Golf Equipment Sales Up 23% Year-on-Year
Spring Golf Festival Held... Sales and Events Prepared
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Thanks to the warm winter weather, Emart's golf equipment sales this winter have recorded the highest level in the past five years.
Emart announced on the 26th that an analysis of golf equipment sales over 55 days from January 1 to February 24 this year showed an increase of about 23% compared to the same period last year. The sales growth rates were 34.2% for golf clubs, 96.9% for golf hats, while golf bags and golf balls recorded 18.3% and 12.2%, respectively.
The strong sales during the winter, which is the off-season for golf equipment, is due not only to the unusually warm winter weather but also to the almost nonexistent snowfall. Since the beginning of the year, the average daily temperature in the Seoul area was 1.7 degrees Celsius. This is 2.2 degrees higher than the same period last year, which recorded an average temperature of -0.5 degrees Celsius. The temperatures remained above freezing, and there were many days when the daytime high exceeded 10 degrees Celsius.
Riding this trend, Emart will hold a golf fair event under the theme of ‘2020 New Club Proposals’ at 38 Emart stores nationwide for two weeks from the 27th of this month to the 11th of next month.
Customers can find all the newly released Dunlop, Callaway, TaylorMade, and Mizuno clubs this year. Featured event products include the Callaway Maverick series driver and the Mizuno MIX-70·S-10 iron sets. Additionally, the Titleist 2020 new sporty caddy bags and Boston bags, as well as the 2018 Callaway club model, the Rogue series, will be available. Consumables such as Srixon Marathon golf balls (24-pack) and HJ synthetic leather golf gloves (2-pack) are prepared at the lowest prices.
There will also be events. Customers purchasing any golf equipment at Emart can receive discounts based on the purchase amount, and using the event card will grant Shinsegae gift certificates.
