[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A Mongolian who came to South Korea for a liver transplant died from symptoms of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to health authorities on the 25th, a man in his 30s from Mongolia who tested positive for COVID-19 at Myongji Hospital in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, passed away. He is the 11th person to die from COVID-19 symptoms in South Korea and the first foreign national case.
According to the hospital, the man suffered from chronic liver disease and end-stage renal failure and had come to South Korea for a liver transplant. On the morning of the 24th, around 6 a.m., while recuperating at his home in Byeollae-dong, Namyangju City, his condition worsened and he was transferred to Myongji Hospital in Goyang.
He was diagnosed with COVID-19 at Myongji Hospital and was undergoing isolated treatment. During this process, it was reported that he experienced cardiac arrest twice.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Korea surged to triple digits again on this day, following the previous day. According to health authorities, 144 new cases were reported in a single day. This marks a consecutive two-day increase with triple-digit cases following 231 cases the previous day. The confirmed cases included 60 in the morning and an additional 84 in the afternoon. Among these, 44 cases were in the Daegu area, with the remaining cases distributed as follows: Gyeongbuk (23), Busan (5), Seoul (4), Gyeonggi (2), Gyeongnam (2), Chungbuk (2), Ulsan (1), and Chungnam (1).
