[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dongshin University (President Choi Il) announced on the 25th that it is focusing on preventing COVID-19 infections by installing thermal imaging cameras in dormitories and the library.
Thermal imaging cameras have been installed and are being operated in Dream Haksa (dormitory), where international students live separately, the central lobby on the first floor of the Central Library, which has heavy traffic from international and enrolled students, and the International Education Center building.
One fixed thermal imaging camera is installed at Dream Haksa, one portable thermal imaging camera at the International Education Center, and both a fixed and a portable thermal imaging camera at the Central Library to monitor the fever status of everyone entering the buildings.
There are plans to additionally install thermal imaging cameras in the Student Union Building and the Information and Computing Center.
If fever symptoms are suspected, immediate isolation measures will be taken, and the Naju Public Health Center will be notified to enable COVID-19 testing and epidemiological investigations.
Dongshin University has also established a ‘COVID-19 Crisis Management Headquarters’ and is dedicating efforts to campus disinfection to prevent COVID-19.
From the 6th to the 9th of next month, disinfection and sanitation work will be conducted in all classrooms, and from the 10th to the 11th, the entire buildings of the four dormitories will be disinfected and sanitized.
Previously, with support from Naju City, disinfection work was carried out throughout the campus, and the university has purchased its own disinfection equipment to sanitize and disinfect dormitories housing international students daily.
Additionally, daily sterilization and disinfection are conducted in vulnerable areas and facilities such as restrooms and office door handles.
All returning international students were individually provided with thermometers, disinfectants, and hand sanitizers, and sterilized laundry support is provided to international students living separately in dormitories.
