The closures include 475 home-based centers, 290 private centers, 58 national and public centers, 29 social welfare corporation centers, 10 corporate organization centers, and 30 workplace centers, totaling 892 centers, with 28,471 children enrolled in these daycare centers.
The city will close the centers but provide emergency childcare services for families who find it difficult to care for their children at home, such as dual-income families.
In particular, measures will be taken to prevent complaints arising from childcare gaps by dispersing children and assigning duty teachers.
The city will fully support childcare fees when daycare centers are temporarily closed or suspended due to COVID-19 infection concerns, and will also maintain personnel expenses as before even when the number of children temporarily decreases, recognizing these as special cases.
