Domestic COVID-19 Cases Total 763... 458 Related to Shincheonji
Additional 161 Patients... 7th Death Occurs
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] There were 161 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea. The total number of confirmed cases in the country has thus increased to 763. One additional death was also reported.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of 9 a.m. today, 161 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed compared to 4 p.m. the previous day. Among them, 129 cases are related to the Shincheonji Daegu Church, accounting for about 80% of the new cases. The number of confirmed cases related to the Shincheonji Daegu Church surged from 329 the previous day to 458.
The remaining 32 cases are under investigation. By region, Daegu has the highest number with 115 cases, followed by Gyeonggi (10), Gyeongbuk (8), Seoul (3), Gyeongnam (3), Busan (2), and Gwangju (1).

The seventh death has also occurred. The newly reported death is patient number 286 (a 62-year-old male). This patient was hospitalized in the psychiatric ward of Daenam Hospital in Cheongdo, Gyeongbuk, and was confirmed positive on the 21st before being transferred to the National Medical Center for isolation.
