In Ulsan Jung-gu, candidates Kim Kwang-sik and Lim Dong-ho will compete in a primary, and in Gwangyang-Gokseong-Gurye, Jeollanam-do, candidates Kwon Hyang-yeop and Seo Dong-yong will also face a primary.
Lim, a former Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, is one of the key figures in the investigation into interference in the Ulsan mayoral election. The prosecution indicted former Blue House Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Han Byung-do on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act, alleging that before the 2018 local elections, Han urged Lim to withdraw from the Ulsan mayoral race and promised positions such as public enterprise president in return.
