CJ Olive Young Conducts Disinfection at Stores in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Regions
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CJ Olive Young announced on the 23rd that, under the principle that customer and employee safety is the top priority, it will conduct disinfection work at stores in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions to prevent and contain the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Following the designation of Daegu and Cheongdo areas as ‘Special Infectious Disease Control Zones’ on the 21st, CJ Olive Young began disinfection work at all 45 directly operated stores located in Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do on the same day. This is a preemptive measure to ensure the safety of customers and employees.
The disinfection work will start at the ‘Daegu Daemyeong Branch’ located in Nam-gu, Daegu Metropolitan City, and will be intensively carried out over the weekend to alleviate the anxiety of local customers and employees.
To create ‘safe stores’ from COVID-19, CJ Olive Young has placed hand sanitizers in all stores and made it mandatory for store members to wear masks.
Masks have been distributed eight times so far to all store employees, and a total of 350,000 masks will be sequentially distributed by March 10. This quantity is enough for all store employees, including part-time workers, to use daily for about 40 days.
Additionally, to provide a safe shopping environment for customers, disinfection is carried out more than nine times a day at places with frequent customer contact such as entrances, display stands, and testers. Due to increased sensitivity regarding tester use, ‘color tester papers’ have also been additionally provided.
Earlier, on the 11th, disinfection work was conducted at five major stores in the Myeongdong commercial district, including the Myeongdong flagship store.
