Samsung and LG Target Premium Sound Market... Experience Zones Installed and Technology Enhanced
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are strengthening their premium sound technologies. While forming technical partnerships with global companies, they are also expanding experiential spaces that provide high-quality sound for the audio market.
According to the industry on the 22nd, Samsung Electronics will open the largest premium home appliance store in Korea across three floors at Galleria Department Store Gwanggyo Branch in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, on the 28th.
The store features the 'Harman Sound Theater' experience zone, a listening space for Harman Audio, a connected car and audio specialist company acquired by Samsung for 9 trillion KRW. This space allows customers to listen and experience firsthand, demonstrating advanced technological competitiveness. Samsung Electronics is particularly utilizing the acoustic technology of Harman's premium audio brand AKG in key products such as Galaxy and Galaxy Tab.
For the premium home audio market, the company launched the 'Citation' from the authentic audio brand Harman Kardon last year. The product offers the best home entertainment environment with premium design, surround sound, and smart features.
The Citation provides a multi-room system function that easily connects multiple audio devices into one group and boasts excellent sound quality and durability with Kvadrat fabric made from natural wool material that maximizes sound permeability.
LG Electronics also opened a premium sound listening space last month at the LG Best Shop Gangnam Main Store located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The listening space on the second floor allows customers to explore video and audio devices and experience LG Electronics' sound technology.
LG Electronics showcased products equipped with acoustic technology developed in collaboration with the British luxury audio company Meridian Audio. The two companies have been developing products together since 2018.
Among the products installed in the listening space, the 'LG Objet Audio' delivers 160 watts (W) output and allows users to enjoy high-quality music from smartphones when connected to mobile devices. It can also connect up to three external devices such as TVs and supports FM radio functionality.
LG sound bars apply 'Dolby Atmos,' a technology that precisely adjusts the direction of sound according to the movement of objects on the screen. This helps users experience a more vivid sound and immersive spatial sensation.
