[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Seongchan, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the Hampyeong County Mayor by-election, announced on the 21st a pledge to establish a 'Sports Marketing Division,' stating, "I will invigorate the local economy with innovative sports marketing and lay the foundation for development."
Candidate Kim said, "Hampyeong has the geographical advantage of being the largest strategic point in Jeonnam, with the Seohaean Expressway and four national highways passing through, and proximity to major cities such as Gwangju and Mokpo," adding, "We will highlight the clean image of an ecological city and fill the lacking infrastructure to develop into a mecca of the sports industry."
Specifically, he plans to enact an ordinance supporting sports marketing and form a public-private cooperation committee to provide athletes with the optimal environment for training.
He explained, "Based on wrestling and baseball, we will actively provide incentives to expand the attraction of training teams, and aim to hold one community sports event every month to diversify sports and discover independent competitions."

Additionally, he stated, "As a hometown that produced Olympic gold medalists, we will create an Olympic Memorial Park as a mid- to long-term plan and focus administrative efforts on improving the quality of life for residents by promoting the long-awaited construction of a swimming pool."
