[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-gi] Cho Hyun-bae, Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard, announced his resignation on the 21st.
On the same day, Commissioner Cho stated, "I intend to relinquish the position of Commissioner to uphold the legislative intent of the Coast Guard Act, which stipulates that the Commissioner should be a maritime expert with the rank of Senior Superintendent or higher who has served in the Coast Guard for more than 15 years."
Although he has not yet submitted his resignation letter, if Commissioner Cho later submits it to the President, the appointing authority, through the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, it is expected to be approved and he will be 'dismissed from office.'
