NSSC Approves Restart of Hanul Unit 4
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission announced on the 20th that it has approved the restart (criticality) of Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Unit 4, which underwent a regular inspection.
The NSSC conducted 82 inspections at Hanul Unit 4 starting from December 16 last year and confirmed that the restart is possible.
During this inspection, the NSSC identified and repaired 180 areas where the internal steel plates (CLP) of the reactor containment building had thinned. The CLP functions to prevent the leakage of radioactive materials in the event of a nuclear accident. Additionally, one worn part was found and repaired in the steam generator tubing.
