[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Daegu City conducted a full investigation targeting the church members who attended the service with the 31st confirmed patient of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), but it was found that a significant number could not be contacted.
According to the Daegu Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the 20th, a full investigation was conducted on 1,001 members of the Shincheonji Daegu Church throughout the previous day, and 396 people (39.6%) could not be reached. Daegu City plans to complete the investigation by this day.
As a result of the full investigation, 90 members (9%) reported symptoms such as fever and cough, while 515 members (51.4%) reported no symptoms. Daegu City recommended self-quarantine for those who reported symptoms and plans to conduct specimen testing. A dedicated 1:1 management system has been established for these individuals. Additionally, a dedicated call center will be operated for Shincheonji church members.
On the same day in Daegu, 23 additional confirmed cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 34. Among the 34 confirmed cases, 26 were related to Shincheonji.
Among the confirmed cases, there was one art academy teacher and one daycare center teacher each. Although there are only seven students at the art academy, the daycare center has 20 teachers and 150 students, raising concerns about further transmission.
