Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, to Create Over 12,000 Jobs This Year... How?
‘2020 Job Creation Comprehensive Plan’ Announced... 34 Projects Including Corporate Officer System, Youth Startup Projects... Towards a ‘Job City’
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su), which is prioritizing job policies in the 7th local government term, has established the ‘2020 Comprehensive Job Creation Plan’ and plans to create 11,782 jobs throughout this year.
According to a resident survey conducted at the end of last year, Songpa-gu residents ranked ‘jobs (31.4%)’ as the top priority area for the 7th local government term. Additionally, more than half of respondents (51.1%) cited ‘jobs and income’ as their biggest concern, emphasizing the need for job creation.
In response, the district announced the ‘2020 Comprehensive Job Creation Plan’ on the 14th, implementing 6 major strategies and 34 projects.
First, the foundation for integrated and collaborative job creation will be strengthened. The Songpa Job Integrated Support Center, which serves as the control tower for 22 job facilities, will expand its functions to provide continuous one-stop employment support services, including job preference tests, group consulting, and AI/VR interview experiences.
Furthermore, to discover local community jobs, the ‘Corporate Manager System’ will operate by matching companies and public officials 1:1, and the Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center will offer an ‘All-in-One Job Counseling Service’ through professional job counselors.
The ‘Job Impact Assessment System,’ which reviews and analyzes key policies and new projects from a job perspective, will also be implemented.
For youth employment, projects will focus on enhancing youth-led self-reliance capabilities. These include the ‘Youth Startup Challenge Project’ supporting startup ideas and technologies, ‘Songdaon (Good Things Come to Songpa)’ providing expert consulting for youth-run stores, intensive nurturing of youth startups using the ICT Youth Startup Support Center, and the Youth Employment Internship Program for small and medium enterprises, all aimed at supporting youth employment and entrepreneurship.
In particular, efforts will be made to develop effective policies reflecting youth opinions through the Youth Network Committee.
Efforts will also be made to provide stable public jobs. The ‘Senior Social Activity Support Project,’ which offers various social activity participation and job services for seniors, will select 2,372 participants, an increase of 215 from last year.
Additionally, to support jobs for people with disabilities, the plan includes expanding the ‘Disabled Job Cafe’ utilizing idle spaces in public facilities or private companies. The ‘Seoul Leading 50+ Hope Job Consultant’ program will actively support reemployment for middle-aged and older adults.
Customized vocational training and employment linkage support will also be provided for career interrupters and vulnerable groups. Various tailored employment education programs will be offered, including practical startup training through the Chamsari Training Center, specialized talent development in ICT and AI, and reemployment training courses for middle-aged and older adults.
Moreover, to resolve job mismatches, the district will continuously hold 19-Day events, job fairs, and excellent company recruitment briefings, and actively support residents’ employment through the ‘Resident Priority Employment System’ at construction sites.
In addition, the district will create a ‘business-friendly environment’ by supporting participation in domestic and international fairs, obtaining excellent certifications, establishing a nationwide bidding information system, and providing village management consultant services. It will also strengthen the self-sustainability of social economy enterprises by promoting successful model projects and hosting social economy joint forums.
Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Job creation is a pressing challenge of our time,” adding, “Songpa-gu will complete ‘Job No.1 City, Songpa’ by promoting creative job projects tailored to local characteristics, public service sector jobs, and jobs within the social safety net.”
The district launched the 7th local government term in 2018 and established a ‘Job Policy Roadmap,’ aiming to create 50,000 jobs over four years through annual projects.
