Resolution on 'Strengthening Export Dynamism through Innovation and Advancement of Trade Structure' as Business Goal
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea International Trade Association held its 2020 regular general meeting on the 20th at COEX in Samseong-dong.
At the general meeting attended by over 500 representatives from the trade industry, the association presented this year's business goal as "Strengthening export dynamism through trade structure innovation and advancement," and announced six major strategies and 23 detailed action tasks to achieve the goals, including ▲strengthening export support for member companies to revive export vitality ▲scaling up and globalizing startups and new industries ▲training practical trade personnel and resolving job mismatches ▲proactively responding to changes in trade and commerce environments ▲expanding future trade infrastructure and enhancing public value ▲diversifying export markets and export methods to improve export performance.
Chairman Kim Young-joo stated in his opening remarks, "In times of difficult trade environments and crises, our trade professionals have supported the Korean economy even more strongly," adding, "We can overcome the current difficult situation by applying the wisdom accumulated so far, and the association will actively support the trade industry with differentiated services."
He continued, "The sudden COVID-19 outbreak is negatively affecting global production and consumption," and said, "The association is focusing on minimizing the impact of COVID-19 on member companies by conveying various difficulties received through the Export Difficulty Support Center to the government and urging the preparation of countermeasures."

Representatives from the trade industry attending the general meeting resolved the association's business plan and detailed promotion strategies for this year and urged the Korea International Trade Association to take a more proactive role in providing prompt information and resolving difficulties for member companies.
