Jeongeup-si, LED Floor Traffic Lights for Accident Prevention 'Attract Attention'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk is attracting attention by establishing an advanced traffic environment that prioritizes citizens' safety.
The city announced on the 19th that it has pilot-installed floor traffic lights over a 37m section of the crosswalk at the intersection near Hyundai 3rd Apartment to prevent crosswalk accidents.
Floor traffic lights are installed at crosswalk waiting points and operate in connection with traffic signals to provide signal recognition information to mobile phone users whose gaze is directed downward.
By embedding LED panels in the crosswalk waiting line on the ground, pedestrians can check the walking signal while looking down, and at night, it also enhances visibility for vehicle drivers.
The city expects that this floor traffic light installation will greatly contribute to preventing jaywalking and traffic accidents.
Additionally, after comprehensively reviewing residents' reactions, prevention effects, and satisfaction, the city plans to expand installation to major crosswalks.
