Opening Mobile Messenger Chat Room... Sharing International Students' Arrival Status, Answering Questions... Providing Thermal Sensors and Disinfection Support in Dormitories for Self-Quarantined Residents

Seodaemun-gu Collaborates with Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, and Others to Prevent COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) is cooperating with 10 universities (graduate schools) in the district, including Yonsei University and Ewha Womans University, to prevent COVID-19 in response to the arrival of Chinese international students ahead of the new semester.

The district has established and is operating a mobile messenger chat room involving about 20 representatives from Seodaemun-gu Public Health Center and each university to activate a mutual communication system.

Through this, the quarantine measures promoted by each university and the daily arrival status of Chinese international students are shared, and health center officials respond in real time to any inquiries.

The district recommended each university to implement ‘14-day self-quarantine in school dormitories for incoming Chinese international students’ and ‘special disinfection for virus prevention.’

Some universities are providing school dormitories as self-quarantine locations for Chinese international students and have decided to postpone the start of the semester until after the quarantine period.

Seodaemun-gu will install thermal detectors and support disinfection if local universities conduct self-quarantine in dormitories.

The district has already selected a disinfection company and is conducting disinfection in 19 dormitory buildings across three universities.

A district official stated, "There are differences in the number of Chinese international students and dormitory conditions at each university, but we will make every effort to prevent the virus."

Earlier, on the 5th, Seodaemun-gu proactively held a countermeasure meeting with university officials in the district for COVID-19 prevention, ahead of other autonomous districts in Seoul.
