Taekwang Group Sehwa Art Museum Hosts 'Living as an Artist' Exhibition
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Taekwang Group's Sehwa Art Museum will hold the exhibition "Artist Survival" from April 19 to May 31. This exhibition vividly captures the real lives and workspaces of young artists in their 20s and 30s who have chosen art as their profession. It presents works that approach the labor and creativity of young artists, reflecting the social prejudices they face and the concerns they have as artists.
The "Artist Survival" exhibition is organized around three main themes: works focusing on the artist's creation and labor, works that offer insight into the artist's life or identity struggles, and works presenting new perspectives and methodologies of the younger generation.
The exhibition features a total of 12 artists (teams), including Im Ga-young
Additionally, related programs such as artist talks and book talks will be held for visitors to enjoy alongside the exhibition. The artist talks will take place every Thursday starting April 16, with six sessions of 120 minutes each, providing opportunities for communication between artists and visitors.
On April 9, a book talk event will be held featuring writer Lee Seul-a, known for her independent project "Daily Lee Seul-a," which sends a piece of writing to readers every day. Participation can be registered by phone or through the website (www.sehwamuseum.org), and on-site registration is also available.
This exhibition will be held at Sehwa Art Museum located in the Heungkuk Life Insurance Building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, until May 31. Admission is free except on Mondays, the museum’s closed day.

Meanwhile, Sehwa Art Museum was expanded and reopened from the Ilju & Sunhwa Gallery, which was operated from 2010 to 2016, following the establishment of the Sehwa Arts and Culture Foundation by Taekwang Group in 2009 to contribute to the popularization of culture and arts. The museum hosts public art works and various domestic and international exhibitions in the lobby on the first floor and the entire third floor (about 1,000㎡) of the Heungkuk Life Insurance Building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. Besides art exhibitions, it also supports various artistic activities such as sponsoring regular concerts at Yewon School and supporting young emerging artists.
