Mokpo Office of Education Operates 'Comfortable Care Classroom' Outside School

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Mokpo Office of Education announced on the 18th that it will operate the ‘Mom-Pyeonhan Care Classroom’ starting from the 2nd of next month to address the demand for care in overcrowded schools.
The ‘Mom-Pyeonhan Care Classroom’ is a care service linked by the Office of Education with schools and the local community, a project promoted by the Mokpo Office of Education School Support Center utilizing various infrastructures in the community.
This project will be operated by remodeling a senior citizens’ center, an idle facility in Mokpo Moms County Apartment, targeting 27 lower-grade students of Mokpo Baekryeon Elementary School.
The first priority for use is low-income and single-parent families, the second priority is near-poor households, and the third priority is dual-income families.
The care classroom instructors, who hold teaching certificates for kindergarten, elementary, or secondary education, or qualifications as childcare teachers or social workers, will guide the children on site.
Education Superintendent Kim Jae-jum said, “The Mokpo Office of Education was recognized for the excellence of after-school and care programs in cooperation with the local community, having been selected as an after-school institution last year. We initiated the ‘Care Classroom in Front of Your Home’ project to solve the saturated care demand in overcrowded schools in the region.”
He added, “We will assign dedicated instructors, safety management personnel, and external instructors, and under the active support of the Office of Education, operate the Care Classroom in Front of Your Home with no difference from the school care classrooms.”
