"Helping Flower Farmers and Celebrating the Return of COVID-19 Quarantine Patients"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] A twofold event to support local flower farms struggling due to COVID-19 and to celebrate the return to daily life of those in quarantine was held consecutively in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
On the 18th, according to Gwangsan-gu (Mayor Kim Samho), Jeong Ilgi, chairman of the Gwangju Horticultural Agricultural Cooperative, distributed 1,000 roses to public officials arriving at the first-floor lobby of the district office.
This event was organized by the Gwangju Horticultural Agricultural Cooperative by purchasing flowers from local flower farms.
The purpose was to help local flower farms facing difficulties due to the cancellation of graduation and entrance ceremonies caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and to foster a consumption-promoting atmosphere for flowers among local residents.
Earlier, on the previous day, the Together Gwangsan Sharing Culture Foundation and Gwangsan-gu delivered ‘Cheering Flowers’ to residents who had been released from COVID-19 quarantine.
This was to express gratitude for their patience and to celebrate their healthy return to the community.
The cheering flowers were prepared with a 5 million won gift certificate donated to the Together Gwangsan Sharing Culture Foundation by Lee Seungcheol, CEO of the cleaning service company Thebulorak Co., Ltd., requesting it be used for residents released from quarantine.
