Gangjin-gun Selected as Recipient of Ecosystem Conservation Cooperation Fund Return Project
4.3 Billion KRW National Funding Supported for Ecological Restoration Project 진행
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] On the 18th, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it was selected for the '2020 Ecosystem Conservation Cooperation Fund Return Project' hosted by the Ministry of Environment on the 6th.
Accordingly, with a national subsidy of 430 million KRW, an ecological restoration project will be carried out around Gangjin Bay Ecological Park.
The Ecosystem Conservation Cooperation Fund Return Project is a project that recovers the cooperation funds paid by developers by charging them the cost equivalent to the damage caused to nature due to development, and uses the funds to promote ecological environment restoration such as vegetation restoration, installation of ecological facilities, and creation of ecological wetlands and walking trails.
A Gangjin-gun official said, "We will devote ourselves to the project by reflecting the opinions of residents of nearby Nampo Village and Mok-ri Village during design and construction."
The county plans to start construction in April and complete it in November, planting various plants such as aquatic plants, slope protection plants, and buffer plants near Gangjin Bay Ecological Park to create an ecological observation platform, monitoring deck trail, and nature learning center.
Lee Seung-ok, the mayor of Gangjin-gun, said, "The area around Gangjin Bay Ecological Park is a water area where land and sea meet, featuring healthy mudflats and extensive reed colonies, possessing the greatest ecological diversity on the southern coast." He added, "With the increase of bicycle road users and deck visitors along the Gangjin Bay coastline, we will restore the locally damaged ecology and make it a representative model case of ecological restoration."
