Mapo-gu Sanitation Workers Begin 'Seoul's First' Special COVID-19 Disinfection Effort
Disinfection of Guardrails at Subway Station Entrances in Blind Spots, Bus Stop Benches... Thorough Disinfection Efforts Until the End of the COVID-19 Situation... Disinfection Completed at District Office and Dong Community Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) has been conducting special disinfection targeting blind spots in the district since the 13th, without lowering its guard despite the slowdown in the spread of COVID-19.
For the first time in Seoul, environmental sanitation workers are participating in this special disinfection effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The special disinfection targets facilities such as subway station entrance guardrails, bus stops, park benches, and bicycle storage areas?places with high foot traffic within the existing street cleaning zones but prone to neglect in disinfection. Using spray disinfectors and disinfectant wipes, disinfection work will continue daily until the COVID-19 situation subsides.
Additionally, the Saemaeul Autonomous Disinfection Teams in Mapo-gu’s 16 neighborhoods conduct high-pressure sterilization and spray disinfection twice a week at major hotspots such as Hongtong Street, a foreigner-dense area, Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, and the motel district near Sinchon, striving to block the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
The district has also carried out comprehensive disinfection of 15 public libraries, which are frequently used by vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly, through professional disinfection companies.
Furthermore, to protect the health of employees and residents visiting the district office, disinfection of the district office building and neighborhood community centers was completed on the 14th. Hand sanitizers have been placed throughout the comprehensive civil service office, and COVID-19 prevention guidelines are being promoted using civil service kiosks and LED electronic displays. New rapid mobile phone sterilization charging stations have also been installed, demonstrating meticulous efforts to safeguard residents’ health.
