Jeongeup-si Strengthens 'Livestock Vehicle Registration System' to Prevent Severe Livestock Infectious Diseases
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 17th that it will further strengthen quarantine measures to effectively block malignant livestock infectious diseases such as AI, foot-and-mouth disease, and African swine fever.
The city urged active cooperation in implementing the ‘Livestock Vehicle Registration System’ for livestock vehicles with a high risk of livestock diseases.
The Livestock Vehicle Registration System is a system that collects and manages vehicle entry and exit information through livestock vehicle registration and GPS device installation, establishing an efficient quarantine system for rapid epidemiological investigation and blocking quarantine.
The vehicles subject to livestock vehicle registration are those transporting livestock, raw milk, eggs, animal medicines, feed, manure, rice husks, sawdust, livestock carcasses, or used for the operation and management of livestock breeding facilities.
Also included are vehicles entering livestock-related facilities for medical treatment, vaccination, artificial insemination, consulting, sample collection, quarantine, and machinery repair.
Livestock-related facilities include livestock breeding facilities, slaughterhouses, collection and sales centers, livestock markets, livestock inspection agencies, breeding farms, hatcheries, fertilizer factories, and livestock manure processing companies.
Owners and drivers of vehicles entering livestock facilities must complete 6 hours of mandatory quarantine education within 3 months before or after registering the vehicle as a livestock facility entry vehicle.
Failure to register vehicles entering livestock-related facilities or failure to install GPS will result in imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million KRW.
Failure to attach facility entry vehicle stickers or to ensure GPS operation will also result in a fine of up to 10 million KRW.
Livestock farmers who wish to register vehicles entering livestock facilities can submit the required documents to the Eup, Myeon, Dong offices, or the Livestock Division of the Agricultural Technology Center at City Hall.
