Busan City and JMJECO Co., Ltd. Sign Business Agreement for Headquarters, Research Center, and Factory Establishment
Capital Region Power Semiconductor Company JMJECO Relocates to Busan
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Busan City announced on the 17th that it will sign a memorandum of understanding for investment with power semiconductor component manufacturer JEMJECO Co., Ltd. at 1:30 PM on the 18th at Busan City Hall for the relocation of its headquarters and research center to the Seoul metropolitan area and the establishment of a new factory.
JEMJECO is the only company in Korea that produces clips, one of the electrodes connecting the wafer die and lead frame when packaging power semiconductors. It is a strong small and medium-sized enterprise in the power semiconductor field supplying major semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics, Infineon, and Texas Instruments.
Power semiconductors are an industry that Busan City is focusing on fostering, and they have been steadily growing recently as they are applied in various industries such as electronic products, automobiles, and robots.
JEMJECO plans to invest more than 8.1 billion KRW in total to expand its business, including entering the electric vehicle market, and to build its headquarters and research center in the Seoul metropolitan area and a power semiconductor component production factory in the Dongnam Radiation Medical and Science Industrial Complex in Jangan-eup, Gijang.
Through the existing workforce and additional employment at the Seoul metropolitan area headquarters and research center, a total of 55 jobs will be created, and it is expected to contribute to the industrial agglomeration of power semiconductors along with the power semiconductor commercialization center to be established in the Dongnam Radiation Medical and Science Industrial Complex in the future.
JEMJECO, whose major customers are global corporations, plans to export more than 90% of its sales overseas, and Busan’s export cargo volume is also expected to increase significantly.
