Knowledge Sharing Solidarity Workshop on the 18th... Discussion on OA Roadmap and More
[Asia Economy Reporter Jonggil Lee] The Knowledge Sharing Solidarity will hold a workshop on the 18th at the National Library of Korea under the theme of ‘OA Promotion and Support Strategies for Academic Societies.’ OA stands for ‘Open Access.’ It refers to making papers freely available online before and after academic journal publication for unrestricted use. At the workshop, researchers will introduce the progress of the Knowledge Sharing Solidarity’s activities and discuss the roadmap to achieving OA. The Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) and the National Library of Korea will explain support measures to academic societies that have declared OA. The Knowledge Sharing Solidarity stated, “We will change the self-reliant researcher culture and encourage academic societies dependent on private companies to operate according to public interest principles.” The Knowledge Sharing Solidarity was established in August last year to enhance the public value of knowledge production and utilization, as well as to strengthen the publicness and rationality of academic knowledge production.
