Daejeon Expands Metropolitan Discounted Transportation Card Program... Transportation Costs Reduced by Up to 30%
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is expanding the metropolitan discount transportation card mileage linkage project.
According to the city on the 17th, the metropolitan discount transportation card project was piloted last year to reduce local public transportation costs. The core of the project is to accumulate up to 30%+α in mileage when using public transportation such as city buses, subways, village buses, and BRT after walking or cycling.
For example, when traveling 800m once by walking or bicycle and then using public transportation (more than 15 times a month), up to 250 won in mileage is accumulated, with a maximum monthly accumulation of 11,000 won. Additionally, card companies separately apply up to a 10% additional discount depending on usage performance.
In particular, the city explained that on days when fine dust reduction measures are issued, the accumulation standard is doubled, and low-income youth (those aged 19 to 34 in the lower-income bracket and basic livelihood security recipients) receive an additional 100 to 200 won per use.
This year's project scale is 5,000 people, who must have their address registered in Daejeon. The project period is until December 31, and for participation methods, discount benefits, and other detailed information, please refer to the metropolitan discount transportation card website.
Last year, metropolitan discount transportation card users were 385 men (22.7%) and 1,310 women (77.3%), with women being relatively more, and the age groups were 1,121 in their 20s (66.1%), 319 in their 30s (18.8%), and 116 in their 40s (6.8%) in order.
