As part of this effort, on the 3rd, they received a donation of 20 million won from the International Lions Club District 354-A and are carrying out the 'Safe Diaper Support Project' to reduce the economic burden on low-income families with infants and elderly patients with senile diseases, as well as the 'Exciting and Energizing Sneakers Support Project' to provide sneakers to children and adolescents.
First, the 'Safe Diaper Support Project' expanded its target to adults to address the shortcomings where the demand for adult diapers due to mobility difficulties or senile diseases is increasing, but support has mainly been limited to infants and young children.
Jongno-gu has supported diapers for a total of 450 people until last year to alleviate the economic burden related to pregnancy and childbirth, encouraging healthy parenting and supporting the healthy growth of babies.
This year, diapers will be provided to infants under 3 years old (born after January 1, 2017), adults with mobility difficulties (such as brain lesions, physical disabilities), and elderly patients with senile diseases. Recipients are selected through recommendations from local community centers considering income criteria, and will receive diapers worth about 60,000 won monthly from February to December.
Next, the district will implement the 'Exciting and Energizing Sneakers Support Project' for children and adolescents. Since external appearances such as clothing and shoes can easily affect self-esteem formation and interpersonal relationships, and wearing ill-fitting shoes can cause discomfort in walking and restrict activities,
they plan to support comfortable sneakers that fit well to help the healthy growth of low-income children and adolescents. A total of 100 people, 25 each quarter, will receive sneakers worth about 100,000 won. Recipients recommended by local community center staff and integrated case managers will select their desired products, which will be delivered to each home as a personalized service.
Mayor Kim Young-jong stated, “I am very pleased that welfare benefits can be evenly distributed across all generations from infants and young children to children, adolescents, and adults through the safe diaper and sneaker support projects,” and added, “I also express deep gratitude to the International Lions Club District 354-A for their generous sponsorship activities for local residents.”
