Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Reopens 916 Facilities Closed Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Samho) announced on the 16th that it will reopen 916 facilities, including daycare centers and welfare centers, which had been closed due to COVID-19 infectious disease, starting from the 17th.
As the COVID-19 situation in the local community enters a stabilization phase, the purpose is to restore the daily lives of facility and organization users to the pre-pandemic state to alleviate inconveniences and to drive the stagnant local economy.
The district decided to reopen the facilities respecting the opinions of facility and organization heads and informed the public through social network services (SNS) and other channels.
However, considering that this COVID-19 infectious disease originated from unhygienic food culture, facility and organization heads were instructed to conduct more thorough preparations before normal operations, especially in facilities such as senior citizen cafeterias.
Accordingly, Songgwang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Hanam Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Deobureorak Senior Welfare Center, and Haengboknaru Senior Welfare Center will reopen from the 17th, but the in-house senior cafeterias will undergo detailed facility inspections and food ingredient preparations until the 18th and will start normal operations from the 19th.
Village senior centers and others will provide meals starting from the 24th, when the senior job projects begin.
Gwangsan-gu will deliver substitute meals as before to ensure that the elderly do not experience meal shortages during the period between facility reopening and the normalization of senior cafeterias.
