Candidate Kim Myung-jin: "Sangmu Citizen Park Sports Center Construction to Start Within the Year"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Kim Myung-jin, a preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Seo-gu Gap, Gwangju Metropolitan City from the Alternative Party, announced on the 16th that he will secure an additional 2 billion KRW in national funds to ensure the construction of the National Sports Center being promoted at Sangmu Citizen Park can begin within this year.
Candidate Kim Myung-jin stated, "In 2018, Seo-gu was finally selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's public contest project '2018 Support Project for Installation of Sports Facilities' with the 'Sangmu Citizen Park National Sports Center Construction Project.' This project requires a total budget of 7 billion KRW, and with the selection in the contest, part of the national and local funds have been secured to proceed with detailed design and other project steps. However, some of the local government matching funds (2 billion KRW from the district budget) are insufficient, making the start of construction within this year uncertain."
He continued, "Seo-gu has multi-purpose sports facilities such as Yeomju Gymnasium and Pungam National Sports Center, but these are concentrated in the Pungam-dong area, making it difficult for all Seo-gu residents to use them. Compared to the number of sports enthusiasts, sports facilities by category are still significantly lacking, and approximately 50,000 citizens in nearby areas such as Chipyeong, Yudeok, and Sangmu 1-dong are not benefiting from public sports facilities," he asserted.
