78 New Cases in One Day... Total COVID-19 Confirmed Cases in Japan Reach 337
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] On the 15th, an additional 78 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were reported in Japan, bringing the total number of infections to 337.
According to local Japanese media such as Kyodo News and NHK, 67 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on the cruise ship 'Diamond Princess' docked at Yokohama Port.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the cruise ship docked in Japan is now 285.
Eight new COVID-19 infections were also confirmed among residents of Tokyo.
Among these eight, six were attendees of a New Year's party on a pleasure boat held on the 18th of last month, which included a private taxi driver whose infection was confirmed on the 13th. One was identified as a crew member of the pleasure boat.
The remaining one is a company employee in his 40s living in Tokyo who showed coughing symptoms on the 2nd and had a fever on the 5th, after which he sought medical examination.
After the onset of symptoms, he took the Shinkansen to Aichi Prefecture for a business trip on the 10th, and as symptoms persisted on the 12th, he was hospitalized from the 12th. He is currently reported to be in serious condition.
Local media reported that three additional confirmed cases were identified at Saiseikai Arida Hospital in Wakayama Prefecture, including a male doctor in his 50s and his spouse, as well as a patient in their 60s.
