Single-Digit Cases After a Month, Continued Efforts to Explore Cooperation Measures Related to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held an in-depth discussion on trilateral cooperation measures regarding the situation in North Korea during the South Korea-U.S.-Japan foreign ministers' meeting held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
On the 15th (local time), Minister Kang held a South Korea-U.S.-Japan foreign ministers' meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu. This South Korea-U.S.-Japan foreign ministers' meeting was held one month after the previous meeting on the 14th of last month in San Francisco, U.S., marking the seventh meeting since Minister Kang took office.
At this meeting, the three ministers discussed trilateral cooperation measures related to North Korea and the North Korean nuclear issue, as well as regional and international issues and situations. A Foreign Ministry official explained, "The three ministers shared their assessments of the current situation in North Korea and held in-depth discussions on response measures and future trilateral cooperation plans."

Additionally, cooperation measures related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were also discussed. A Foreign Ministry official stated, "The three ministers exchanged views on recent COVID-19 spread, Middle East situations, and other regional and global issues," adding, "They agreed to continuously explore areas and measures where South Korea, the U.S., and Japan can cooperate both regionally and on the international stage."
