Overcoming COVID-19, the 'Small Flower Sharing Event' Draws Attention
‘Busan Flower Farm Flower Sharing, Bodeumi Market’ Event
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] A small flower-sharing event in the local community to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is attracting attention.
According to Busan City on the 14th, the ‘Busan Flower Farmers Flower Sharing, Bodumi Market’ event was held in the lobby on the first floor of Busan City Hall to share the difficulties of flower farmers.
Hosted by the Busan-Gyeongnam Flower Horticulture Agricultural Cooperative and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation Busan Headquarters, this event was organized to help farmers struggling due to the impact of COVID-19. The event included the distribution of 6,000 roses prepared by the Horticultural Cooperative and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, a flower farmers’ Bodumi sales event, and flower consumption promotion campaigns.
To promote flower consumption, locally produced flowers such as Alstroemeria, Freesia, Snapdragon, Statice, and Ranunculus were sold cheaply at 1,000 to 3,000 won for 10 stems. At the event, all 1,350 bundles prepared were sold out by around 9:30 a.m.
Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don personally visited the event site with officials, delivered flowers filled with love to citizens and employees, and encouraged participants, promoting flower consumption.
Citizens responded warmly, saying, “We want to share the difficulties of our neighbors through this small flower sharing.”
