The Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration announced on the 14th that heavy snow will fall from the 16th until the morning of the 18th, with temperatures dropping sharply and strong winds making the perceived temperature even lower.
On the late afternoon of the 15th, rain will begin along the west coast due to rain clouds accompanying a low-pressure system approaching from the northwest, and it is expected to expand to the entire region by early morning on the 16th.
From the morning of the 16th, as temperatures drop, rain is expected to change to snow mainly in the northern Jeonnam areas such as Jangseong, Damyang, and Yeonggwang.
Cold air below minus 12 degrees Celsius near 1.5 km above the lower atmosphere will advance over the West Sea, bringing in snow clouds developed by the sea-land temperature difference, resulting in snowfall.
The Meteorological Administration forecasts that heavy snow accumulating up to around 20 cm may lead to the issuance of heavy snow warnings in some areas.
From the afternoon of the 16th, daytime temperatures will drop sharply by about 10℃ compared to the previous day due to cold air rapidly moving southward from the northwest, and the cold weather is expected to continue until the 19th.
In particular, from the 17th, some areas will remain below freezing, and strong winds will make the perceived temperature even lower.
